Business in Lynn

I'll be attending the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce debate tomorrow morning at the Porthole Restaurant. I'm really looking forward to it as I think it's theme is critically important to the future of Lynn and specifically the downtown area. How do we make Lynn a more desirable place to do business. I guess we could slam them with sign ordinance penalties, roll back hours of operation, and increase taxes. Oh wait, we did that already. Perhaps there's a better approach. :-)

I've been encouraged lately with the shape of Central Square. We had the Farmers Market today and several store fronts are now full. We just had a new karate studio open up. WE now have our blocks version of a religious candle store and a market. I'm not sure how all these stores that are exactly the same stay open, but I'll take it over a empty storefront.

How do we make Downtown Lynn a destination for shoppers and diners?

We'll see what they have to say tomorrow morning.
