Poetry, Story, and Song with Don White and Elizabeth McKim - Dec. 16th

TLGUTS is at it again with another unique event in the gallery space. Great way to get up close and personal with singer, song-writer Don White (I'm From Lynn What Can I Say) and poet, Elizabeth McKim. Check out the press release below.

--------

Poetry, Story and Song, a new event to be held bi-monthly at TLGUTS to promote the art forms of poetry, storytelling and song writing and performance, kicks off on Thursday, December 16th at 8pm. The inaugural performers are celebrated artists Elizabeth McKim and Don White. Each event features artists who have received acclaim in their respective art forms. Each performance is geared towards creating an intimate performance opportunity for both the audience and artists, and will be followed by a light reception. The number of tickets available is limited, so audience members are urged to buy their tickets in advance.
The first featured artists, poet Elizabeth McKim and folk musician and storyteller Don White, are both Lynn-based artists who are not only highly acclaimed in their respective fields of discipline, but also proponents of the arts in Lynn. McKim has published multiple books of poetry, including, The Red Thread. Mckim is also Poet Laureate of the European Graduate School for Expressive Art Therapy in Switzerland and teaches at Leslie in the department of Creative Arts and Learning. She's a graduate of Goddard College, and guest lectures all over the country on poetry and writing and creativity.

Don White, the P.S.S. musical story teller, i.e. folk musician, is one of the nation's best. After more than twenty years of performing, White has mastered the ability of taking his audience on an emotional journey throughout his performance. He was born and raised right here in Lynn, which gives him a default charisma wrought with sarcasm and insightful humor. White has released more than a half dozen CD's and is also a published author. His book Memoirs of a C student, is a poignant, hysterical, and heartwarming tale spun around his life growing up in Lynn.

The first event, featuring Elizabeth and Don, is Thursday, December 16th, 8pm, at TLGUTS. The cost for tickets is $12 general admission, $6 seniors.
