This December, the North Shore Community College Performing Arts Council proudly presents a beloved American classic that the whole family can enjoy!
Thornton Wilder's THE MATCHMAKER
Directed by Matthew Woods
Costume design by Cotton Talbot-Minkin
Set design by Malcolm Young
Wealthy merchant, Horace Vandergelder, gets more than he bargained for when he hires irrepressible busybody, Dolly Levi, to find him a new wife, for she knows that love makes the world go round, but a little money helps to pave the way! When Dolly sets out to part the penny-pinching Horace from his purse and bring a smattering of young lovers together, however, complications - and grand adventures -- ensue!
Wilder's comic valentine to a bygone era weaves together the time-tested elements of traditional farce --mistaken identities! thwarted young lovers! secret rendezvous! - with a lively wit and a merry wisdom that are sure to warm the hearts of young and old alike.
And here's a little something for the trivia buffs: Thornton Wilder's The Matchmaker would go on to inspire the hit Broadway musical, Hello, Dolly!
So don't just sit there wondering what to do this winter, grab a hat and come out to North Shore Community College's Lynn Campus for a rollicking and old-fashioned good time at the theatre.
The MATCHMAKER will be performed in the Lynn Campus Gymnasium, 300 Broad Street, Lynn (map)
