Lynn, Lynn, City of ... Foundations?

So, apparently there was an important event in the City of Lynn this weekend.

Several of you forwarded the email about some person who signed an email "Citizens 4 Lynn Foundation" with an email address for some and for others. Both of them with the name "City Lynn" as their first and last name. I could understand "Citizens Lynn" or something but why deliberately set up the email to look like it's coming from the "City Lynn."

This email was to get people to go to an event where Tim Phelan would announce his run for Councilor-at-Large.

I honestly don't believe Tim Phelan did this.

I think it's someone who thought they were doing something good for Tim, but this is messed up.

Tim Phelan should come out with a public statement against this e-mail. Not the way to start a campaign. Let's dive in. I give you both email headers:

From: City Lynn <>
Date: March 11, 2011 11:19:50 PM EST
Subject: Important Lynn Event- Sat March 12

From: "City Lynn" <>
Date: Mar 11, 2011 11:31 PM
Subject: Important Lynn Event- Sat March 12

If you want the email, ask a friend. It seems everyone in town got a copy of this.

Why does one make up a Lynn Foundation a couple weeks after a controversy about a Lynn foundation? It's just plain .... well, I'll let you fill in the blanks.

With each person who forwarded this email to me, they all had different questions. As if I am supposed to know what goes on in this odd world we live in. I had no answers for my poor readers, only more questions myself.

One person pointed out the use of the number 4. I would assume this means that this is a group of 4 Citizens who live in Lynn.Maybe it's 4 Groups of people? Maybe they meant "for" and not "4." Nah, couldn't be that.

Another person pointed out the absurdity of assuming one can be an independent voice for all the children, people, and businesses in this great City. Children apparently are not people, but it's good to know that they still have a voice.

Another pointed out that the email states we need to support Lynn's leaders for the next generation. This obviously points out that he is not a leader now, but it's very good to hear that in this next generation he's going to step it up a bit.

Finally the email proudly states that All are Welcome and NO DONATION is REQUIRED if you bring this email.  So if you bring the email you received from Citizens 4 Lynn Foundation you get in for free. Hmmm....

So that's it. What do you think of the Citizens 4 Lynn Foundation, I mean the Citizens Foundation 4 Lynn, I mean the... oh never mind...

While not a legal term, the word Foundation has a responsibility that comes with using it. Let's stop abusing this word in the City of Lynn.

Did you go to the event? How was it? Should we vote for Councilor Phelan in 2011 for Councilor-at-Large?

  1. What? Is the foundation for Phalen's Lynn City Council Presidential Library?

  2. It's so clear to me that Phelan is not behind this, but who is??? It seems so messed up.

  3. If children aren't people, what do you think his position on the fetus is? I don't think it would sit well with his base.

  4. Sounds like the same person who tried to help a cause I'm in, but worded it incorrectly, that it hurt the good-fight (a little). I think they honestly meant no harm.

  5. funny if things like this are SABOTAGE!

  6. Not good politics if it's coming from either side of this. If Phelan sees the same issues with this as we see, I hope he comes out railing against it in the papers.
