Lynn Museum Announces Logo Contest to Commemorate 115th Anniversary
As the Lynn Museum & Historical Society kicks off its 115th Anniversary celebration, a contest has been announced to select a logo to commemorate this special milestone. We invite all individuals to submit entries in this Logo Contest. We are looking for a unique design that symbolizes the Museum and/or the City of Lynn and its varied history. The winner will be announced at the Giggles Comedy Night, a fundraiser to benefit the Museum's educational programs, to be held on June 21 at the Prince Restaurant in Saugus. The new logo will appear on the special invitation to the Anniversary Gala to be held in October at the Museum, as well as other promotional materials throughout the year. In addition, the winner will receive two tickets to the Gala, $115, and a basket of unique items from our Museum Shop, as well as the excitement of seeing their design in print. We welcome local artists and art students to submit their designs as part of their professional portfolios.
The logo design entry must symbolize the Museum and/or the history of the City of Lynn and must include the text, “115” and “Lynn Museum & Historical Society.” Designs should be adaptable to the silkscreen process used on T-shirts, posters or stationery; the embroidery process used on T-shirts and caps; black-and-white and color printing; and it should be adaptable to wide variations in size. Since the logo may be used on a colored background, it should be designed with this possibility in mind. Designs are limited to two colors in any medium (black is considered a color, and two shades of a color are considered two colors).
Entries are limited to five per applicant. Each entry must be mounted on an 8-inch by- 10-inch board. Name, address, telephone number and e-mail address must be placed on the back of each entry. For black-and-white entries, color may be indicated as an overlay. Artwork must be original; no copyrighted designs will be accepted. Artists creating their designs digitally are requested to also provide the Museum with digital copies of their files, which may be submitted electronically or on CDs that accompany their printed entries.
All entries must be received no later than 5 p.m., on Friday, June 1, at the Lynn Museum, 590 Washington St, Lynn. MA 01901, addressed to the attention of Jo Ann Baker. A panel of judges will select several finalists, and the winner will be determined by a vote of the general public on our Facebook page and other social media. You will need to be a fan of our page to vote on Facebook. The winning logo will become the sole property of the Lynn Museum & Historical Society. Lynn Museum reserves the right to have final determination of the design.
