Local non-profit Centerboard has completed their move to new headquarters located at 16 City Hall Square in downtown Lynn. The new building will allow for growth and expansion of the agency. The first initiative to come to fruition is their new hub of creativity called visionspace. The street level, easily accessible, multi-use space will be a place for artisans, entrepreneurs, writers, teachers and
students to come together to learn, grow and create with each other. The launch of visionspace will be a gallery opening featuring 2 Lynners, painter, sculptor & collage artist Rocco Capano and photographer Jason Taglieri. “raw and exposed” will feature the artist’s finest work and is set to open on Friday July 20 from 6-11pm. Centerboard’s social enterprise catering company Wicked Tasty will be showcasing their menu as well. All are invited to attend.
“We have been intrigued by the process of placemaking and have been following it closely,” says Mark DeJoie, Centerboard CEO. “One of the biggest components of placemaking aside from creative endeavors that contribute to the local economy is capturing and encouraging people’s love and emotional ties to the place that they live. There are many people who love Lynn and have a true passion for the city. We hope to provide them with an outlet and a physical place to gather and contribute to Lynn in a positive way.”
