OpenDTL is Here!

Saturday marks the 1st Annual OpenDTL, an event that is sure to explode over the coming years into something even we can't imagine right now. This year, in it's first incarnation, it's already larger than life. Central Square will be alive with bands, museum happenings, vendors and an all out Yard Sale. Excl will be holding workshops over at JB Blood, Oasis Studio will be open at 173 Oxford Street, centerboard will be around town with their traveling photo booth. Nest Forward has brought together a self-guided tour of some of the best lofts in Lynn. Arts After Hours has an after-party planned featuring some great food from Downtown restaurants and beyond. Walnut Street Cafe will be kicking with some great tunes at night as well.

It's just all a way of pointing out how much great we have going. I salute the organizers of this year's OpenDTL. To Seth, Soraya, George, Cheryl, and anyone else who had something to do with it... Thank you!

Can't wait for the day and the After Party!!!!!

Lynn Museum Hosts Free Family Fun Day as Part of OpenDTL

The Lynn Museum & Historical Society is sponsoring a Free Family Fun Day on Saturday, June 23
from 12-4pm. Family-friendly activities are planned including Silly Sally, a “bubbleologist,” who will be giving a mesmerizing bubble performance where children get to go inside the bubble. She will be creating little bubbles, round bubbles, and even square bubbles! Sally says, “I can’t think of anything I would rather be doing than making people smile. I am grateful to be able to be able to bring out the silliness in others. Giving the gift of happiness is a gift every day for me.” We are thrilled to have her entertain children of all ages at our Family Fun Day.

This event is planned to coincide with “Open DTL,” a neighborhood-wide open house with arts,
music, peeks into local loft residences, arts organizations, museums and businesses sponsored by the Downtown Lynn Neighborhood Association and EDIC. Original live music, a neighborhood yard sale held in Lynn Museum’s Courtyard, and Arts After Hours’ “Meet Ball” are also planned for the day. For more details about “Open DTL,” please visit www.DTLna.org.

Silly Sally will perform at 1 pm. Face-painting, and light snacks will also be available. The Lynn
Museum, located at 590 Washington Street, Lynn, will be open from 12-4 pm. Please join us for a fun day of family entertainment, and tour our current exhibits, including 115: Paint by Numbers and More Than a Number: Stories from Lynn, a collection of transit photos and the stories of the heroic survivors of Cambodia, who fled the Khmer Rouge’s brutal genocide in 1975-79 and went on to make Lynn their home. All are welcome. Free of charge. For more information, visit www.lynnmuseum.org or call the Museum at 781-581-6200.

OpenDTL Loft Tour

Looks like a great way to get a peak into downtown loft living. Check out the write up from Nest Forward, the tour coordinators.

"On the East end of Lynn, a short 10 minute walk from the gorgeous seaside of Lynn's Diamond District, lives a true loft neighborhood - Downtown Lynn. Nest Forward presents the Downtown Lynn Loft Tour - an intimate look at urban living in a historic neighborhood. The Tour will feature four lofts of various styles and sizes decorated and designed with diverse tastes and budgets. This Tour is unique because attendees will get to meet the owners and residents, see their spaces, and hear their stories about living in Downtown Lynn. The lofts on the Tour have been selected by Soraya Cacici of Nest Forward, with a goal of displaying all styles and sizes of lofts within Downtown Lynn and giving tour-goers the broadest range of residences to view. All Loft Tour ticket holders will be entered into an awesome raffle, courtesy of Interior Designer Allison Moran, from Live Well Interiors + Design. The lucky winner will receive 90 minute consultation of their most troublesome room, a design scheme, floor plan, color concepts, and furniture and accessory selection. WOW! Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 on the day of event.

Please call or email Soraya for tickets: soraya@nestforward.com or 781.572.8725.

100% of proceeds from the Tour will benefit DTLna, the Downtown Lynn Neighborhood Association. DTLna will reinvest these funds back into the community.

A special thanks to Lotsashots Photography and Live Weill Interiors + Design for co-hosting the Tour with us and for very generously donating their services. Nest Forward's ticket booth on the day of the

Tour will be located in Central Square, under the train tracks by the Time Clock.

The Tour will coincide with openDTL - a day ripe with art, food, an artsy/loft owners' yard sale, local businesses, live music, a tour of the Munroe Street Community Garden, and more!"
