Centerboard’s visionspace gallery and Extras for Creative Reuse have teamed up to produce an eclectic mix of found art pieces for the gallery’s latest installation. Extras, located at the JB Blood Building on 20 Wheeler Street, is the North Shore’s premiere upcycling location. Geared toward educators and artists, one can find a dazzling array of items at Extras, ranging from a “wall of binders” to material, yarn, patches, stickers, craft paper and one of a kind pieces that you will not see anywhere else.
This collaboration came about after Extras and visionspace teamed up for an installation back in September of the “Extras Monster”. That piece showcased the many possibilities that can come from shopping at the center.
For this installation, artists visited Extras, found the materials they wished to use and then created their pieces for submission. Dan Lambert of Extras is the curator of the show and has assembled an interesting collection of originality. The opening is this Friday, January 18 from 6-10pm at visionspace gallery, located at 16 City Hall Square in downtown Lynn.
