Imagination, Symbol & Spirit
A Duo Exhibition featuring the work of: Priscilla Hathaway & Marilyn McKeon

These two artists, each with their own critical life struggles, work from the mind. Images that seem to birth themselves from both of these prolific women invariably end up on paper, using marker, crayon, pen, pencil, colored pencils, acrylic paint – basically whatever their ideas demand. Images of life and death, religion, relationship, family, femininity and masculinity, as well as elves, fairies and landscapes, all seem to weave their way into their art.

Priscilla has shown widely and she generously will donate her art and hopes to continue to share her work with others, while Marilyn, as Priscilla states, “deserves to be known and appreciated for her brilliance,” and has also shown in several public exhibits. They are both long time friends and find solace, peace and challenge through the creation of art.

August 15th - Third Thursday Brings to Central Square the Dog Days of Summer!

The Downtown Lynn Cultural District is pleased to announce the return of the ever popular 3rd Thursday event, Dog Days of Summer. The celebration of all things canine will be taking place on August 15th at 6pm in Central Square.

This year’s event will feature vendors including local pet stores, gourmet doggie snack makers, dog groomers, representatives from Lynn’s own dog park Barkland Ave, a K-9 dog demo, a DJ and food vendors for humans!

The event will begin at 6pm in Central Square. The roster of activities will include a doggie parade complete with a Norwich Terrier named Baby acting as Grand Marshall. Tickets will be sold for a kissing booth, dog brushing, doggie massage and a raffle chock full of prizes from Lynn restaurants and businesses.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Northeast Animal Shelter who will also have a table at the event, distributing information and displaying the “Look Book” for dogs available for adoption.

All dogs must be registered to participate. The registration form can be downloaded and printed at http://thirdthursdaysdtl.wordpress.com/. Forms can be dropped off or mailed to LynnArts, 25 Exchange St. Lynn MA 01901 Attn: Dog Days. Registration will be available at the event however pre-registering your dog is highly recommended.

Dog Days marks the second event in the return of the 3rd Thursday series. The Downtown Lynn Cultural District has much more planned and recently launched a website highlighting all that downtown Lynn has to offer. To learn more, please visit dtlcd.org.
